Lineae

線

2014

for string quartet and dancers  (15')

Lineae (Latin for ‘lines’) was written for string quartet and dancers. The four movements of this 15-minute piece express the idea of lines in different characters to be choreographed for three dancers. Musically, the four movements include a flowing, minimalistic opening movement, a motionless second movement, a fast and running third movement, and a desolate closing movement suggesting a recapitulation of the opening ideas.

Lineae is commissioned by the Hong Kong Composers’ Guild for Musicarama 2014 with support from CASH Music Fund.
